As 27 th largest desert of the world the UNESCO-listed Lut desert located in Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces in Southeast of Iran, is a large desolate salt desert covering an area of approximately 52000 square km. The temperature gets more than 70 degree which has been recorded as the highest temperature in the world between 200 to 2009 . This fabulous site stretches from Alborz mountain range to the southeast of Iran in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Sand dunes of the site are considered among the tallest ones in the world having height of more than 300 meters. It is testified that the hottest part of the site, consisting of lava, is GandomBeryan covering approximately 480 square kilometers.
